Pantalone is a character in The Commedia dell’arte, a theatre-group that find its roots in the sixteenth century Italian theatre. Most actors of the Commedia dell’arte played the same character throughout their lives. They became very dedicated to a character and identified themselves with their role in such a way that throughout the years their act became more and more profound.This is the mask of Pantalone and he performed the role of a miserly old Venetian merchant, a stingy and less tan pleasant person.
